Our Philosophy

We believe in complete transparency and fairness. While donations to nonprofits are typically considered final, we recognize that mistakes happen and circumstances change. We treat our donors with the same respect and fairness we demand from government.

Donation Policies

Tax Deductibility

• All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law

• You will receive a receipt for tax purposes immediately via email

• Annual giving statements are available upon request

• Consult your tax advisor for specific deductibility questions

Recurring Donations

• Monthly donations can be canceled at any time

• No penalties or fees for cancellation

• Cancel directly through your account or email us

• Cancellations take effect for the next billing cycle

Refund Policy

We WILL Honor Refund Requests For:

1. Errors and Mistakes (No Time Limit)

   • Accidental duplicate donations

   • Wrong amount entered

   • Technical errors during processing

   • Unauthorized transactions

2. Change of Heart (30 Days)

   • If you simply changed your mind

   • If you're experiencing financial hardship

   • If you have concerns about our work

   • No questions asked within 30 days

3. Recurring Donation Issues (90 Days)

   • Forgot to cancel a recurring donation

   • Didn't realize it was recurring

   • Changed financial circumstances

   • We'll refund up to 3 months of recurring donations

4. Special Circumstances (Case by Case)

   • Family emergency

   • Job loss

   • Medical expenses

   • Other hardships

How to Request a Refund

Subject Line: Refund Request - [Your Name]

Include:

• Your name

• Donation date(s)

• Amount

• Last 4 digits of the card used (for verification)

• Reason (optional but helpful)

Processing Time:

• Approved within 2 business days

• Funds returned within 5-10 business days

• Email confirmation sent immediately

What We Ask in Return

If we issue a refund:

• Please understand this affects our ability to pursue investigations

• Consider making a smaller donation if your circumstances allow

• Share our mission with others who might support our work

• No hard feelings - we appreciate that you considered supporting us

Fraud Prevention

While we're generous with legitimate refund requests, we protect against abuse:

• Pattern of repeated refund requests may result in blocking future donations

• Suspected fraudulent transactions will be reported to authorities

• We reserve the right to decline refunds for bad-faith requests

Restricted Funds

If your donation was designated for a specific purpose:

• We'll honor that designation

• If we can't use it for that purpose, we'll contact you

• You can redirect it or request a full refund

Major Gifts ($1,000+)

For substantial donations:

• Personal thank you from our Executive Director

• Detailed impact report showing how funds are used

• Extended refund period (90 days)

• Option to redirect funds to specific programs

Estate Gifts and Planned Giving

• Work directly with our Executive Director

• Full documentation provided

• Legal counsel available

• Reversible until formalized

Transparency Commitment

We publish quarterly reports showing:

• Total donations received

• Refunds processed (anonymized)

• Percentage of donations refunded (<2% is our goal)

• How donations are used

Customer Service Standards

Response Times:

• General inquiries: Within 24 hours

• Refund requests: Within 48 hours

• Urgent matters: Same business day

Dispute Resolution

If you're unsatisfied with our response:

1. Request escalation to Executive Director

2. Provide additional documentation

3. Allow 5 business days for review

4. Final decisions are binding

For credit card disputes:

• We'll work with you before you contact your bank

• We'll provide all documentation needed

• We won't contest legitimate disputes

Privacy of Refund Requests

• Refund requests are confidential

• Never shared publicly

• Not used to remove you from supporter lists unless requested

• No retaliation or blacklisting
